What are the hours and when should I call?

Canon USA operates the call center for this 800-828-4040 phone number Mon-Fri 9am-9pm ET. The short answer is that you should call on a Friday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 215 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).

Call when they- and you- are open

When you use our free AI-powered phone to call and talk, wait on hold, or navigate for you, you can also schedule the call with Canon USA at a time when they are open and when it works for you. We will confirm you are ready before placing the call, just in case. That means you can "set it and forget it" ahead of time.
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Canon USA phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like Canon USA staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call Canon USA is Friday. The most busy day to call is Wednesday, which averages 93% more phone calls by comparison. Again, this is based on a sample of 215 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Thursday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Monday.
But if you use our free call and talk for me or wait on hold for me service, you don't really need to worry about average wait times.

The best time to call Canon USA

In summation, the best day to call Canon USA is Friday. This is not the day with the shortest wait on hold in the phone system, but we still recommend it for its ideal combination of low call volume and short hold times. Plus we believe that Canon USA staffs the call center well on Friday.

Calling this Canon USA Customer Number

Jeff Whelpley is the editor / author responsible for this content.
Dec 20, 2023

Calling Canon USA is a simple process for anyone seeking technical support, repair assistance or product purchases. Upon reaching Canon, I was greeted with an automated message prompting me to say my reason for contacting support. Since I currently don't own Canon products and wanted recommendations for a camera for beginners, I said the word 'cameras.'

The automated system next asked if I was calling about a product I already own or new products, so I said 'new' and was placed on a brief hold. I was immediately transferred to a customer service representative, which was encouraging since I had hoped it would be a brief wait.

The rep asked how he could help me, and I shared that I was considering purchasing a camera for a teen who is a novice photographer. He asked a few questions about my budget restrictions and whether the camera would be needed for job-related purposes or personal use. I explained it would be for mostly a hobby and could potentially be used for paid photography projects down the road. My budget was under $500.

While on the phone, the rep was able to search his database for possible cameras that could fit within these parameters. He also suggested I visit Canon's website to browse the cameras and accessories posted there. For those new to photography and using digital cameras, the rep shared one option with me that was under my budget at around $430 and could be a good choice for a teen. It was a 24.1-megapixel camera, known as Canon's EOS R100 Body, and he directed me to the link online to see the camera's specs.

He explained that I would have the ability to buy add-on options, such as a camera lens, but he didn't think that was necessary now for starting out. I noticed that Canon offered a protection plan for an added cost, and he said the plan is helpful by providing coverage and care for any accidental damage, maintenance issues, and necessary part replacements. In addition, the protection plan provides free shipping when cameras are purchased online. The rep also said that Canon sells refurbished cameras at a reduced cost and are also eligible for the protection plan.

While this sounded like a potential match for what I was looking for, I told the rep I'd like to see and hold the camera in person before buying and asked if that was possible. He said some local retailers, such as Best Buy, carry the cameras, as well as specialized photo and camera shops. He shared the link on Canon's website where I could search for a local sales provider or dealer near me.

After about 10 minutes on the phone, I thanked him for his time, and the call ended. I found it to be an efficient use of time thanks to a patient and helpful service rep who was easily accessible.

What are the hours and when should I call?

Canon USA runs their call center for 800-828-4040 Mon-Fri, 9am-9pm ET. So, you should call on a Friday. We've based this observation and the next section on 215 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).

Call when they- and you- are open

Now, an important note about busy times, hold times, and when it's truly the best time to call: When we talk about 'busy' or 'less busy' times, we're really just referring to how many calls are coming in. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Canon USA phone number, and, naturally, least busy times mean fewer callers. But a high call volume doesn't necessarily mean you'll be on hold for ages when you call. Companies like Canon USA staff their call centers differently depending on the time of day and day of the week, so you might actually find a shorter wait time even during their busiest periods. So, when we mention the 'best time to call,' we're talking about that sweet spot: the perfect mix of fewer calls and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

Friday's the least busy day to call Canon USA; Wednesday's the busiest, seeing 93% more calls. We've based this on 215 calls made by our AI-powered, web-based phone over the last 90 days. Basically, Mon, Tue, Wed are busiest; Thu, Fri are quietest. Wednesday's the busiest, Friday's the quietest.

The shortest wait on hold

We've found that Thursday typically has the shortest hold times. On the flip side, you'll usually experience the longest wait in the queue on average on Monday. But honestly, if you use our free call and talk for me or wait on hold for me service, you don't really need to worry about any average wait times. call and talk for me wait on hold for me

The best time to call Canon USA

So, the best day to call Canon USA is Friday. While it's not the absolute shortest wait on hold, we still recommend it because it offers an ideal mix of low call volume and short hold times. We also think Canon USA staffs their call center well on Friday.

Calling this Canon USA Customer Number

Calling Canon USA for any reason—whether it's for technical support, repair assistance, or even just to purchase a product—turned out to be a surprisingly simple process. When I first got through to Canon, an automated message immediately greeted me, asking me to state the reason for my call. Since I currently don't own any Canon products and was specifically looking for camera recommendations for beginners, I simply said 'cameras.' The automated system then followed up by asking if I was calling about a product I already owned or if I was interested in new products. I responded with 'new' and was placed on a brief hold. To my pleasant surprise, I was transferred almost immediately to a live customer service representative, which was really encouraging since I'd been hoping for a quick connection. The rep promptly asked how he could assist me, and I explained that I was considering purchasing a camera for a teenager who's just starting out as a novice photographer. He then asked a few relevant questions about my budget restrictions and whether the camera would be needed for job-related purposes or more for personal use. I clarified that it would primarily be for a hobby, though it could potentially be used for paid photography projects down the road. My budget, I told him, was under $500. While we were still on the phone, the rep was able to efficiently search his database for possible cameras that could fit within all those parameters. He also suggested that I visit Canon's website to browse through all the cameras and accessories they had posted there. For those truly new to photography and getting started with digital cameras, the rep shared one specific option with me that was comfortably under my budget at around $430, and he felt it would be a really good choice for a teen. He told me it was Canon's EOS R100 Body, a 24.1-megapixel camera, and sent an online link for its specs. He said I could buy add-ons later, like a camera lens, but didn't think I'd need them right away as a beginner. I noticed Canon offered a protection plan for an extra cost, and he explained it's really helpful, covering accidental damage, maintenance, and necessary part replacements. The plan also includes free shipping for online camera purchases. He also mentioned Canon sells refurbished cameras at a reduced cost, and they're eligible for the protection plan too. Even though this sounded promising, I told him I really wanted to see and hold the camera in person before buying, asking if that was possible. He said local retailers like Best Buy, plus specialized photo and camera shops, carry them. He shared a link on Canon's website to find a local sales provider or dealer near me. After about 10 minutes, I thanked him for his time, and we hung up. It felt like a super efficient use of my time, all thanks to a patient, helpful, and easily accessible service rep. Jeff truly believes every customer deserves good service. He's been building tools, inventing phone tree hacks, and helping customers long before he even joined CallHelpdesk. He's also a Google GDE and involved in the Angular community.
